A solid introduction to EM waves in a slim volume with lucid text and clear diagrams, and a valuable addition to my physics library. Pros: -Covers from vector calculus through the basics of antennas and waveguides. Cons: -It would be helpful to have solutions to the problems.

It is extremely readable, and it feels like a fellow human being is explaining these topics. Very comprehensible, and it seems a good deal of intelligence and thought went into the way in which the topics are explained. It has some archaic references not problematic, though and apparently at least one relatively minor typo.
After partly reading this, Cheng seemed much more tractable. I have not yet finished the book, so I can only assume that the rest of it remains as good as the first or so pages the whole book being about pages. This is an excellent book on electromagnetic waves. The writting style is clear and informative. He writes like someone who wants to explain as opposed to lecture. As a result the book provides excellent insight into the physics of the electromagnetic waves.
